Mermaid Two, and soon to be titled, covered and available... So I said last post, over two months ago! How time has a way of slipping by. The book is back with the editor for some corrections to the revisions made after seeing the editors changes from the first round of edits. At least now I have the cover picture ready and the text for the back, which I'll share here. Melanie is a newly minted mermaid on her way to visit her Uncle Arlo, to hopefully help him with his marine biology research and earn her tail. Along with Melanie on the trip is her dad and her friend Ri’Anne, who Melanie hopes will follow her in her footsteps...
Big news, finally M2 is at the Editor! M2 has been given a title - "The Mermaid's Apprentice." It is hard to believe for me that the book is "almost" done. The Editor has up to 25 days to get it back to me, so we're probably looking at sometime in October for the release. The paperback book will be available on Amazon for $14.99, and the e-book for $5.99 from various e-book vendors. I'm still pondering title for book 2. I'll update here and / or on Facebook when I know. M2 has been given a title - "The Mermaid's Apprentice." My original ideas fell short, and with the help of an author forum the Writers' Cafe @ www.kboards.com. These wonderful...
Recently I had the book beta-read at Frostbite Publishing (FBP). They (their reader) went through the book chapter by chapter and said what they liked and didn't like about the chapter. Nice valuable insight. It's tough to get friends / family to read the manuscript in a timely fashion, everyone is so busy. Let alone say what bothers them about the story. Does the book stand on its own, or does someone need to have read book 1? The FBP beta reader got back to me within two weeks, and pretty much didn't like the book - yay! That's the kind of feedback I needed. There were things they liked, but there were other areas where it was weak. Some was horrible,...
I've been playing around with covers for book 2 of the Mermaid Adventure series. The Mermaid's Apprentice Identity was my initial idea for the book's title. I'd say the book is 85% done. As the author, I'm never truly satisfied, but saying that and having a goal are two separate things. I rewrote an important early chapter, the narrative that it replaced was boring me to tears. The new chapter is the funniest bit of comedy I've ever written - that'd have been fun had I used that style the whole book. I'm still seeking a title for the book, and have yet to send it to be edited. So at the earliest we're looking at a month until its finished, which...
Mermaid Adventures, Book 2 - I finally wrote a chapter I've been knowing needed to be written, but had never found a fun approach. Here follows the ramblings of an author trying to connect to their readers while working on a manuscript While talking to someone this morning about a "mistake" in "Mermaid Rising," I got to thinking, it could be the silver bullet to the unwritten chapter. So now, you may think I planned for it. Honestly, it was a mistake. I do hate not being able to share what, where and so forth, but it would spoil the story - but now it is all "fixed." That is if it makes the cut for the final manuscript.A couple other developments.I...
