Enrico, M2 Deleted Scene

Since it is a long time between books, how about some deleted or alternate scenes to already published books? Enrico is a side character we meet in The Mermaid's Apprentice while our team is in Papua New Guinea. There was a time when I thought he might be the intro for a bad guy, thug type. In the end he became the writer, with a fabulous yacht wishing he had company. Remember our team is walking the piers of Papua New Guinea. "Dad," Melanie's father Jeb is enamored with yachts, and takes a walk down a long pier of fabulous boats. Jeb voices his opinion of one yacht, Enrico overhears him and invites them aboard. The following is cut from the...

M3 Still Being Drafted

I'm excited to share that the work of the "first draft" of Mermaid Adventures book 3 (M3) is nearing completion. For so long I didn't know where the book was headed. Though, I knew what needed to happen from the start. If you've read "The Mermaid's Apprentice," then you know The Lazy Cloud has a "weeds" problem, and it needs to be taken care of. Hopefully that isn't too much of a spoiler to those that haven't read the book. Okay, I've known that since day one, but how to go about it? And what does the story look like that involves all of that, and not be boring?! The early stages of the novel had been. Well it's not...

Bookstore Juggling

Up until recently my books have been at several bookstores in the local area. They sold more books there in a week (the last week I was in town and I was there for 3 solid weeks, ah if I'd only listened sooner) than the other bookstores sold combined. I think it has to do with them being a beach community. They close for the winter months, so things should be rolling again by next summer. While helping a friend move with his yard sale, met a...

My Writing, a Process Story

In the last year I've launched myself as an author. Before that, writing was a hobby that I struggled with, fought internally over and one that I often resisted. I would spend hours, days writing a story that went nowhere and was shared with few. I struggled, because my background was computers. In school I loved math and science. I did poorly in writing classes. To this day I can't pick apart a sentence, and say this is a verb, this is the adjective (I can't even spell that word without spellcheck). Yet, I love to write. I fought, because my stories took me in directions that were hard morally for me to accept. If you'd have asked me even a few...
